In a world where AAA games now ship as buggy and unplayable, this game is a massive breath of fresh air. It is very playable and most of all, fair (mostly).

Live, laugh, love, loss

If all video games appeal to the male fantasy, maybe some men want to become palliative care nurses.
- A shower thought of mine

At the time of writing, I have only completed about a quarter of the game. Yet, I can safely put this game on the list of games I have wished I played sooner. It is a smarter, more mature version of Animal Crossing and unlike Stardew Valley, there is more of a progression to the narrative arcs of the characters and an ending. The game explores themes such as death, infidelity, the traumas of war, child neglect, dementia's effect on the personality, and environmentalism. It also has a lot of fun gameplay elements such as zip wires and floating. The characters are well written and endearing. Which makes it more of a gut punch when it is time to let them go. Despite its cute art style, I definitely cannot recommend this to a child, but if you are an adult who has dealt with loss, or really enjoys Animal Crossing/Stardew Valley I recommend playing this game.

Actually relaxing for once

You know those games that claim to be 'relaxing' because of their cutesy art style, fun farming mechanics, and friendly NPCs? Well, this blows the whole genre out of the water. Because for once...this is actually relaxing!

Capybara Spa is unique in that it has almost to no goals for you to reach. It has no fail states and the customers, unlike in real life, are legitimately lovely. Well, what can you expect. They are capybaras. They do not care that it takes them more than ten minutes to get served. All they ever care about is that you eventually get there. No fuss, no mess, they know you will eventually get to them. The developers has pared down the game to such an extent that all you ever really need to care about is getting that carrot to that capy. You do not need to reach a goal within a certain time limit to receive a special thing. You do not need to pay off a mortgage. You do not need to worry about your animals running away. There is no dark backstory for you to think about. Just take your time. And when you are ready, so will the capys.

Extremely fun game. Very fast paced and cathartic. Platforming elements can get frustrating, but luckily they are few and far inbetween. Play if you want to be the horror in a horror game

It is a fun, intensive, and super time consuming and engaging game about managing all the animals in your zoo. Including people. We are mammals too, last time I checked. Good for people who love simulation games, especially City Skylines and The Sims. Even better if you like micromanaging things or you want to create deathtraps.

I got this for my birthday. As this was my first Kojima game, I was not too sure what I was getting into. I have heard rumours of crazy plots and weird nicknames. What I did not expect was an introspection of modern life and how in the world where we are supposed to be more 'connected', we have become more disconnected and fearful of others than ever. Sure, you may have hundreds of Facebook friends, but can they really be called your friends? You may call someone, video chat with them, or send them hundreds of text messages, but nothing can ever replace being face to face with someone. 2020 has taught me that much and even as an introvert, I realised I cannot fulfil my social needs through social media alone. This is the loneliest game I have ever played. Not because the cast was minimal; I have played games with only one character in it. It was because we have been constantly reminded that human interaction goes here yet there are no humans to be seen. Just a hologram, or a pre-recorded message.

By the way, this game is the best and well made walking simulator out there. But keep in mind that the tags are not joking. 90% of the time, you will be walking. Granted, you will be trekking across the most achingly beautiful post apocalyptic landscape, but if you are more into more action packed games, I would steer clear of this. This game is not for everyone, and that shouldn't be a problem.

Oh, and the game is huge. At the time of the review, I think I have got around a third of the way through the plot. This game, as it turns out, was perfect for the lockdown.

Another great game to the franchise

Once again, Fireproof Games demonstrates why their games are a worthy first day full price buy. Admittedly I bought this game on Steam having already played the Android version. But only on PC does this game radiate in its full glory. The game devs were not kidding when they said they rebuilt the game. Every asset was rebuilt and the game mechanic modified so it is playable with a keyboard and mouse.

Gameplay wise, it is not different from the third game. It is still immensely tactile which makes me wonder yet again whether I should get a touchscreen monitor. The only difference now is that they managed to solve the walking issue. Instead of walking from room to room, which always took far longer than it should, you now spin around a dollhouse. The eyeglass mechanic here is used much more than just going into small holes and can now expand the rooms of a dollhouse. This has cut down the frustrations present in the third game, which is much appreciated.

Another difference is the lessening of the linearity. In the past, players are stuck in one room and they cannot leave until they have solved all its puzzles. Here, the player at any given time have access to a few rooms. Although there is still a sequence to which the puzzles must be solved, it does make exploring a bit more interesting. It also makes the puzzles a bit more difficult, as now some of the puzzles in one room affects another room, which means one has to have a good memory of what they have done and a keener eye. I definitely recommend playing this on a bigger screen.

Overall, this game is an improvement on an already fantastic series. I await excitedly for the next title (and hope it does not require a VR set).

Well worth the wait

I was pretty disappointed to found out that this game was an Epic exclusive when it was first released. However, the patience paid off. From the people who brought us Quantum Break and Alan Wake comes another supernatural story about control; control over matter, mind, power, and life itself.

The plot is fantastic, thick, and well thought out. It is however full of twists, turns, and mind benders that requires some thought before you can understand it. The combat feels pretty good, especially with the fantastic array of powers you can unlock. The characters are well...they are what you can expect from people who have been stuck in lockdown for a long time (sound familiar?). I have been fortunate enough to only encounter one bug in an otherwise solid and polished game. Highly recommended.

(Side note: I did receive this as a birthday gift so I cannot vouch for the dollar value of the game)

An elegant horror game

Prey is a mildly scary first person survival horror shooter in one of the most beautiful and intricate game settings. It is complicated with lots of plot twists, details, and interesting game mechanics. There is definitely room for experimentation; in fact, your biggest mistake would be disregarding a weapon as 'useless' and not trying it out on different enemies. The map is vast and split into different sections, with lots of places to visit. In fact, half the time you will be exploring every nook and cranny for materials. Every question you could ever ask about the game is eventually answered one way or another and there is definitely a lot to read. You can tell the developer made a huge effort to make the game feel realistic and believable. This adds to the horror element to it. For some reason, knowing what happened in the game could have happen sends chills down my spine. It certainly makes me wonder what we are doing to prevent scientists from going too far.

(I nominate this game for the Best Envionment Award because of its insane eldritch detail. Special mention goes to the stars in the sky, the cracks in the walls, and the textures on the fabric.)

A hat trick of greatness

Firefproof games have done it again! If you are a huge fan of the first two games like me, you will not be disappointed. The same ridiculous amount of polish is back and the gameplay is as enjoyable as ever.

Just as the second game is bigger than the first, the third one is more massive yet again. Instead of just exploring a few rooms, you are now exploring a huge house. Grey Holm, to be exact. The gothic envionment is on point, with crumbling stones, rich tapestries, and vines taking over the outside. This is definitely best experienced on PC as the level of detailing is well, insane. And because this is a mobile based game, if you have a touchscreen, you are definitely in for a treat.

About that. It is evident that Fireproof has made effort to adapt a mobile game for a mouse but it still feels a little...clunky. It might just be me but pushing buttons and pulling levers isn't as much fun with a mouse as it is with fingers. This truly is a game made for a tablet screen. If you say own a Microsoft Surface PC, you are going to have the best experience in your life. But for the rest of us, the immersion of the game is somewhat dampened by the fact that we can't directly interact with the objects in the game. It is a little sad, for sure, but it is something we can all live with. No game is perfect after all, and we all have to make sacrifices.

Overall, this is a highly enjoyable and beautiful game best played with a tablet PC, but still amusing for those with a mere keyboard and mouse.
