There are so many games that only save at check-points and no one seems to mind... except if it's an RPG and they can't save-scum as much as they would like. Well, you can save scum, you just have to brew the potions for it.
Yes people care because RPGs are potentially 100+ hrs long - and a platformer isn't. Big brain needed to figure that out.
Anyways, I'm not interested in this kind of bad faith annoying fanboy cope from someone who already owns the game before its release and willfully ignores the relevance of Skillup losing his progress as a result of this design decision. Every other RPG I care about (that did respect my time and money) doesn't make something as basic as a save - controversial.
Plenty of fish in the sea. If the devs want less of an audience (and money) for their game that's up to them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
False.
From Skillup:
"In my 20hrs there have been 3 occasions where quests have bugged out forcing me to reload saves. In one instance I didn't even know the quest bugged out because it wasn't clearly communicated and realized that about an hour later which then forced me to reload a save [which] wasted that full hour. In another instance I experienced a hard crash after spending 30minutes just blacksmithing, repairing gear, and tidying up my inventory and spending perk points etc. The way this loss of progress occurs is actually tied to the way the game handles saving. [Description of first game's save system designed to prevent save scumming]...but when playing a buggy game it did result in huge amounts of lost progress when the game did something it wasn't supposed to do and you were forced to reload a save...Warhorse has landed on a pretty silly solution because now when I'm about to do something important and it's been a while since I've found a bed to sleep in or whatever I just close the game client and reopen it. So I have to sit through the loading screens needlessly because warhorse thought that this weird compromise would be better than just letting me manually save."
Since someone ran to the hall monitor I'll reapply this with hemorrhoid cream for those that feel compelled to spread lies. The reality (as demonstrated above) is that Skillup lost game progress (repeatedly) due to an idiotic save system. Something the devs should have changed since the first title which I'm sure had equal levels of complaints.
What part of the current (ridiculous) system that lost Skillup his progress on multiple occasions is difficult to understand?
Anyway, no interest in reading more apologia from fanboys that have already pre-ordered the game. Unfollowing the thread again.
This is Warhorse Studio's giving players a bit more flexibility when playing the game. You will eventually be able to download a mod that let you save whenever you want, same as it was with the original. I like the game. Saving the game using Schnapps is really an issue at early game as you will have plenty of the saving potion to use it whenever you want.
I would prefer if the game had solid auto-save system rather than this quit-the-game-to-save system but it is still better than the original game if you do not want to use mods.
Yes, don't trust an established & trustworthy Youtuber who shows a problem in a game that's causing progress to be lost.
Trust the guy who's pre-ordered the game and accuses anyone concerned about a demonstrable problem a "bad actor" orchestrating a "smear campaign."
That makes you sound totally reasonable.
Free sleeping (saving) opportunities on all sides of Rattay and all around the map.
I'm fine with Warhorse Studio sticking with their view and I'm happy they give us a bit more flexibility with saving. This will make emergency situations much easier as you can just quit the game without losing any progress.
